The thin layer of vital nutrients that coats our planet is being eroded, thrown into landfills and washed into the oceans at alarming rates. We must educate everyone on how to prevent this… Captain Compost to the rescue! For this meet up we’ll be collecting compostable waste from Stanford Hall’s GIVE Festival, before teaching attendees how to compost them using the very best composting techniques.
We need some keen Captain’s First Mates to help promote our workshop, gather and prepare the materials and guide the heap building process during the classes. Dressing as a vegetable, a worm or a Captain’s First Mate recommended but optional.
There are people looking to carshare so if you’re coming and can give a lift please comment on the event to let people know where you’re coming from. On the day it would be great if you could bring an item for a “bring and share lunch”, a pair of gloves, a bottle of water and as much brown card (large sheets) as you can get your hands on. This will be stripped of sellotape and used for sheet mulching perennial weeds. If there’s anything else you’d like to know feel free to comment! See you soon!
This is a hands on get together where we’ll be mulching up the Stanford Hall Permaculture Garden with bespoke mulches ready for planting up a garden that will produce for years to come. Here you’ll get the opportunity to learn how to work with natures systems to create a garden that gives maximum output with minimum input. The garden will feature a fascinating range of perennial fruit and vegetables and a great example of the genius hugelkultur.
